So what happens when it all gets too much?

This morning I woke up and it was ‘one of those days’. No reason I can think of as business is going well and getting busier, I have great customers, great friends and great family. So what is there to feel down about? Who knows, so I’ll just put it down as ‘one of those days’ and blame my hormones.

As I was feeling sorry for myself (one voice thinking up all the negative things and the other trying valiantly to counteract each argument) it got me thinking. I know for a fact that I’m not the only one that has these sorts of moments, I know many people who can go days, or even weeks, with these sorts of negative thoughts running through their head when if you could just flick the switch from negative to positive the world would look like a completely different place. I’m thankful that 99% of the time I live in a positive space and only dip into negative thought patterns now and then.

So what can we do to shift our mindset when we get into these negative moments?

Well there is of course the option to wallow in this sorrowful state, but what good is that to anyone? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not suggesting that your should block your emotions (that will only come back go bite you on the bum later on!), more that you should accept them, feel them, let them flow through you and then find a way move on.

So here’s a few ways that might help you make that shift:

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is definitely a good thing to practice when you’re feeling down. Try finding a quiet space to listen to a guided meditation or do your own. Even 1 minute just focusing on your breath can help soothe the soul and take the edge off. You can read more about mindfulness here.

Friends

You know the ones you can count on to lift you up when you’re feeling down. Make time to meet up or have a chat on the phone or over the net. It’s not about moaning about the bad things, more talking up the good things and working together to remind you all the reasons why life is good.

Pamper yourself

Everyone has different likes and dislikes when it comes to pampering. Personally I love a massage or a short while lightly cooking in a sauna. Theres also something luxurious about having a bath and then curling up on or in your bed to read a good book! Whatever floats your boat, make some time to give yourself some ‘me time’ love.

Get out and about

Getting some fresh air is usually a good way to get your mind off stuff or help you work through it. Stretch you legs on a walk somewhere beautiful, maybe take your bike or horse out for a ride or even go for a run to run off those blues.

Sleep

With the rush of everyday life it’s easy to get caught up in it all and lose some sleep. Try a short ‘cat nap’ or if you need it a full blown sleep to help you clear your mind and catch up on some much needed Zzzz’s. It may be that with that extra sleep tomorrow really will be a better day.

Hugs

It’s been proven that humans thrive when they receive hugs daily. So go grab yourself a hug and give both yourself a your hug-ee a little huggable boost.

So if you’re feeling down, overwhelmed or any other negative feeling, remember you’re not alone. There are loads more great ways to help shift yourself into a different mood and I’d love to see what you do yourself to help lift your own, or others, spirits. 5 Steps To Unblock Your Chakras

Chakra meditation involves focusing on the different energies that lie within our bodies. There are 7 known chakras and they are known  to be our energy vortexes; opening for life energy to flow into and out of our aura. These vortexes vitalises the physical body and to bring about the development of our self-consciousness.

The reason why one needs to unblock their chakras is that a blocked or improperly aligned chakra will prevent your energies from flowing all throughout your body, causing disharmony and resulting in a very pessimistic or negative mood. In the process, you will regain a life balance which is critical to healing of both physical and mental. The steps involved to performing chakra meditation are fairly simple and focus should be given to one chakra at one time.

In general, 5 techniques to unblock chakras are:

Visualization Through Meditation

A very effective technique, simple in execution where you will need to meditate and clear your mind, allowing you to focus on the chakra and visualize its associated color. You can then focus on the goal that you intend to achieve.

The Crystal Method

As the name suggests, this method requires the use of crystals, held directly on the chakra or right over the chakra for at least three minutes (but not longer than five).

Sound Therapy
Music bowls are used in this technique, which can be purchase at metaphysical stores along with a set of detailed instructions.

The Soothing Massage
A full body massage is an effective way to unblock all 21 chakras in the human body. Besides that, it helps stimulate your vital systems and promote healing.

The Right Mix Of Exercise And Nutrition
Proper nutrition and sufficient exercise is needed to keep healthy and have a energised body, especially in your chakras and aura.

6 Effective Tips For Chakra Meditation

There are seven chakras, going from the base of your spine to the crown of the head. They represent different aspects of you mind, body and spirit. Each controls a certain part of the body, but also certain spiritual aspects. They can also be used to help alleviate a lot of different ailments, from heart diseases, stomach problems, and even mental health. Here are six tips while conducting chakra meditation:

1. Familiarise yourself with chakras

To achieve self healing and development, one must understand  the basic 7 chakras and how they work, what they represent and their linkage to different areas of the body.

2. Set aside time a dedicated place to meditate

You also need to set up your area with things that are related to this meditation. A large chart of the chakras for an example, is used by a lot of people to help them focus on a particular chakra. Maybe having colored candles, or stones or cloth to hold or light to help you picture the different chakras in your mind.

3. Keep this meditation to yourself

This is to prevent ridicule from your peers or family which may then cause you to lose your faith and determination to proceed. Only when they see the difference in you and ask, you can freely do so.

4. Be patient and consistent

Every person’s response to this meditation is different as they have their own unique problems. One person may feel the effects instantly, while for others it may take weeks or months as their chakras may be completely out of alignment. Thus, results may take time and even after realignment, they need regular maintenance to keep them that way. Take this as a lifetime commitment.

5. Set goals and fulfill them

You should always have a purpose, whether this is to help heal certain parts of your body, or the put your chakras into balance.

6. Be humble

You are doing this meditation to improve your life, not make yourself better than everyone else. If people start noticing the difference in your appearance, your overall outlook on life, or that your illnesses start going away, do not brag about it. This can put the chakras out of alignment.

What Is Meditation?

Meditation is the practice of bringing the mind inward by focusing the attention on a single object in total concentration. Without total concentration, there cannot be meditation, as the mind creates thought waves continuously and brings our attention from one thing to the next. As the concentration increases, the thought waves diminish and the mind becomes calm and quiet.

Meditation is that empty space created by quieting the mind, where there is nothing but an uninterrupted flow of energy, and the usual preoccupations with the world completely disappear. At higher levels of meditation, duality also disappears and there is nothing but oneness with the Divine. This is called Samadhi or Nirvana. The permanent state of Samadhi is what we call Liberation or Self-realization, and it is the aim of all forms of yoga and all spiritual paths. Liberation is the true aim of life, and meditation is both the practice and the door to attaining it.

The ultimate benefit of meditation is the realization of God, but there are many other advantages in every stage of spiritual development. Because it purifies the body in general and the nervous system in particular, diseases of the body and mind are greatly improved. Energy levels and mental powers are increased as well, the creativity and intuition are enhanced and inner joy becomes a regular experience. Stress levels are highly reduced by meditation, and the medical community is starting to realize the value of the different practices yogis have been doing for thousands of years, particularly hatha yoga and meditation.

If you are able to meditate at least for half an hour daily, you will become level headed and face life with peace and spiritual strength. Meditation is the most powerful mental and nerve tonic. Divine energy freely flows during meditation, and exerts a benign influence on the mind, nerves, sense organs and body. It opens the door to intuitive knowledge and to other realms of reality. The mind becomes calm and steady. Inner peace becomes possible and real.

With practice, duality disappears and Samadhi, or the superconscious state, is reached. Be patient and consistent, reaching this state takes a long time.

Important Guidelines for Meditation

  • As purity begins with the physical body, cleanse your body before meditation.
  • The seat for meditation or asana should be made of wool on the bottom and cotton cloth on the top. Avoid sitting on the bare ground, since your energy may be drained off, and do not share your asana with anyone.
  • Regularity of time, place and practice are important, as they condition the mind to slow down, paving the path to deeper levels of meditation. Ten minutes every day is better than one hour every now and then.
  • The best times to meditate are early dawn and dusk, when the atmosphere is quiet and charged with special spiritual energy. If it is not possible to sit for meditation at these times, choose a specific time and stick to it everyday.
  • Try to have a separate room for meditation, if at all possible. As meditation is repeated, the energy will increase and the atmosphere will be filled with peace and purity.
  • When sitting, face North or East in order to take advantage of favorable magnetic vibrations.
  • Sit in a steady, comfortable, cross-legged position with the spine and neck straight but not tense.
  • Keep the breathing rhythmic: inhale for three seconds and exhale for three seconds. The breath, the prana (vital force) and the mind are connected. Regulating and controlling one will regulate and control the other.
  • Do not force the mind to be still, as this will set in motion additional thought waves. Allow the mind to wander at first, focusing on a mantra or specific technique, as the mind will eventually become still with practice.
  • Select a focal point for the mind to rest. Most people choose the Ajna chakra (third eye), as it is close to the eyes and easy to focus on. Eventually, the Anahata (heart) chakra can be chosen.
  • If you are not using a mantra, you can also focus on a neutral or uplifting object or image while concentrating on the breath.
  • Attempt to live a pure, pious, sattvic life. Treat your body as a temple. Strive to eat pure, nutritious food and avoid intoxicants. A vegetarian diet will accelerate your spiritual development.

Experience: A Journey Toward Healing

Lie or sit down in a comfortable place and loosen your clothing so you can breathe without restriction.

Close your eyes and focus your awareness on how you’re breathing. Take deep, full breaths….

As you inhale, silently repeat to yourself , “ I am.” .. As you exhale, say “Relaxed.”

Spend a few minutes getting relaxed……

Now bring your awareness to whatever area of your body needs your attention because it is in pain or under some other stress.

Don’t try to analyze why it’s so, nor try to change or control it. Just notice it as it is. As you become aware of this area, are you also aware of any emotions ?….

Again, don’t analyze, change, or control them. Just notice what they are.

With your eyes open or closed, make your right hand into a shape of expresses how the area you’ve focused on feels.

You might want to stretch your fingers long or curl them into a hard fist. Let your hand do whatever it needs to do to reflect how your body feels….

Hold your right hand in that position for several minutes and observe it.

Then let your left hand take on the shape of how you’d like your body to feel if it were not in pain. If your right hand is closed and tight, maybe your left hand is open and loose…

Do what feels right to you.

Slowly move your attention between your two hands, between the shape that represents how you’re experiencing your body now and how you’d like to experience it.

Gradually let your right hand change into the shape of your left.

Notice how your body feels after you do that and how you experience the related emotions…..

When you’ve finished, if you’ve had your eyes open, close them and bring your awareness back to your breathing… breathe deeply several times before you open them….

Past Life Regression Therapy – A Case Study

When doing past life regressions, one can never be sure exactly quite what to expect. One thing I do know is that no matter what occurs in a session there is always a positive benefit for the client. It may not be immediately obvious or it might be right in-your-face, but there is always a benefit.

I was working with A., a female in her early 40’s who has been working on a weight problem for most of her life & has tried all the usual methods to it. After several conversations with her, she wanted to try PLRT to see if it would be helpful to her in reducing weight. The method I use most frequently when regressing clients is taking them back to a childhood memory prior to a past life. As I was working with 2 clients at the same time I was unable to do more than direct them in a general way but the results for A. where dynamic.

In our discussion after the regression, she excitedly recounted her childhood memory. She was again a young child of about 7 or 8. She saw her step-father approach her & grab her arms from behind to pin them to her sides. She talked about the feelings of helplessness and pain that overcame her (this apparently was a frequent occurrence in her childhood) and she suddenly became very angry. And in her anger she found the strength to elbow him in the chest, forcing him away from her. She then turned and with a huge shove pushed him through the plasterboard of the wall behind him and shouted “You will NEVER hurt me again”.

As we discussed her memory and what it signified for her, she told me that she had tried hard, in may different ways, to release the hold the abuse from her step-father had over her, but until now had never been able to do so. She said that she felt wonderfully free & that she didn’t think the old memories would ever have a hold on her again, as she realized that she had taken her freedom and power back, that she had done it – it had not been done for her. She was exuberant to say the least, and has been reveling in her freedom since then.

We also talked about the past life she remembered which was not quite as dramatic but still significant in the fact that she had, had an experience of one. I say this, as there are a certain percentage of the population that don’t have a past life experience on the 1st regression. I will continue to work with A. to see if this breakthrough will be the nadir to starting her journey to permanent weight loss.

(Please note I make no allegations the PLRT is a weight loss program!)

Eleven Hints for Life

I found this today and thought it was lovely so wanted to share it on here:

1. It hurts to love someone and not be loved in return. But what is more painful is to love someone and never find the courage to let that person know how you feel.

2. A sad thing in life is when you meet someone who means a lot to you, only to find out in the end that it was never meant to be and you just have to let go.

3. The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you’ve ever had.

4. It’s true that we don’t know what we’ve got until we lose it, but it’s also true that we don’t know what we’ve been missing until it arrives.

5. It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to love someone-but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.

6. Don’t go for looks, they can deceive. Don’t go for wealth, even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright.

7. Dream what you want to dream, go where you want to go, be what you want to be. Because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.

8. Always put yourself in the other’s shoes. If you feel that it hurts you, it probably hurts the person too.

9. A careless word may kindle strife. A cruel word may wreck a life. A timely word may level stress. But a loving word may heal and bless.

10. The happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best of everything they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

11. Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, ends with a tear. When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die,
you’re the one smiling and everyone around you is crying.
